I have been painting most of my
life since I was as a child as a way to survive and to feel safe.
I paint as a way to create space
that energizes other spheres of my life such as academic work, writing and
therapy. Sensitivity to the creative process in art making has guided and
influenced the way I work with patients. I have been painting and taking art
classes for many years in France, New York (The Art Students League) and East
Hampton (the D’Amico Art Institute and the Guild Hall).
I
have taken advantage of the many local artistic manifestations and artists’ organizations.
For two years I was a member of The Crazy Monkey Gallery cooperative in Amagansett.
I am a member of
the West Side Artists Coalition of New York and of the Artist Alliance of East
Hampton, The Montauk Artist Association and the Artists Beith Midrash at the
Skirball Center in Temple Emmanuel. I paint using different media and techniques, including oil,
pastels, encaustic, sculpture,
and collage. I also use bark and found objects in 3 dimensional
pieces. |
